I have been working on this quilt for longer than I care to admit. It was originally began as a quilt for my son when he was five of six...he will be eleven next month. He loved monkeys then, now he is more of a Minecraft and Percy Jackson fan. When I picked it back up he kindly suggested that I make it for sister.
I bought embroidery monkey squares ( which have taken a long time to do as I am slow and had bad carpal tunnel when pregnant so I couldn't sew that whole time). Since I embroidered more red, green, blue and brown I thought I would add a pop of color and little girl whimsy. I am attaching hearts and on Big E's suggestion grass. I have just been using fat quarters I had on hand. I have my fingers crossed it will look fine when I am done. My goal is to do it all by hand like my grandmother does.
I will be doing five rows of four. I have our different heart and grass fabric patterns. Here are two (the pic is from my kindle so not the best but I will post more as I move along with it).
Honestly, I hope this gets easier. I have never made a quilt and think that some of it is confusing. I am going to have to figure out how wide to make my strips and how large I want the finished project to be. Really I am figuring it all out as I go. So, if you stop by my lil blog and have any tips let me know.
